The received ring does not have 9896 identification that I expected.
The ring is slightly thinner than the old one which I still have and does have the identification.
The one provided does not seal the lid tightly, allowing some steam to escape. I ordered a new one because the old one had become stiff and allowed steam to escape. The new one is barely better.
S-9896 Mirro presure cooker gasket
This hard-to-find item was supplied promptly. It fits perfectly and being silicone will probably exceed the original in quality. The suggestion posted that the gasket be coated with vegtable oil for the first few uses to prevent sticking should definitely be followed by every piuchaser.
