It works and the reconditioned price is good but with problems
I read the other bad reviews and a some good reviews as well. These sum up the Italia. It is a great deal for the recondictioned price but count on some problems. The customer support at Saeco is non existant. They say in the manual do not return to retailer. The retailers tell you not to return it but Saeco tells you to return it to the retailer! That is a runaround. My unit had a leaky water resivoir. With all of the hassle from Saeco support i decided to keep it anyway. However it leaks water sometimes all over the counter. It is also a very tweeky machine. The grounds full sensor sometimes refuses to reset when the spent grounds hopper is emptied. The out of water sensor sometimes comes on while the water resivoir is full. For best results I had to set the ginder on the finest grind with the largest coffee amount. Then the unit would pack a good "puck". I have read where other owners have had to tear the unit apart and do mechanical work to get the grind finer. BE SURE AND ADJUST GRIND WHILE THE UNIT IS GRINDING.

We have had the unit for 3 months now and it is still working. We have made over 200 espresso shots so I would say I have gotten my moneys worth given the reconditioned price.

In summary, Its a good deal at the reconditioned price but don't expect perfection or product support from Saeco.

 Two for Two
I bought a Saeco Italia from Amazon a year and a half ago and have had no trouble with it in any way since. I liked it so much (the espresso is excellent and the steam wand is actually worth using) that I bought one for my parents as a gift soon after. Their's has also continued to work flawlessly from the time of purchase. I am sorry for those customers who have had bad experiences and I do not suggest that it is their fault, but felt that I owed a fair hearing to what I consider to be a great product that has yet to fail me.

excellent espresso each and every time
I don't understand all the negative reviews concerning the reconditioned saeco espresso machine? I have owned this machine for 2 1/2 years and have never had a problem. Perhaps these individuals have no idea what a espresso should taste like? Easy to maintain, simple to use, always good crema, etc. Referred to a friend, loves it. Highly recommended.

Great Coffee LEmon of a Machine
I purchased a used Saeco Italia on Ebay and for the first few espresso shots it worked great, and the coffee tasted great. A few weeks later it started leaking water from the bottom, a few weeks more it became 3+ounces of water every shot, a few weeks later the steam knob blew off. Now I have a machine without steam it leaks like crazy and most recently the electronics caused it to jam. It thinks it needs water but even though it's full of water won't reset. It's a lemon and will take $200 to fix with shipping. Good Luck Get a Warranty. Mine was made in 2004.

Perfect (Almost) all the time - over 2 1/2 years now
Looks like a lot of people have had bad luck with this machine
I have been very happy with it, I bought it refurbed for about $350 over 2 years ago and have pulled 15 to 20 shots from it every day.
It is a bit temperamental at times getting a bit lost during its program

A few times i thought it had died on me , but with a little patients and cleaning and re setting it was back.
Now I pull it apart about once a month for cleaning- found a coffee bean it likes (so it does not clog)and use filtered water - We are now very happy together :)
Have only de scaled once in 2 years, so maybe it's time to do that.
But really, for the price it is amazing and I would recommend it to anyone, with a little patients to understand it, it works just fine

I moved to Brazil where the voltage is a little higher, a lot of my appliances died, but not the Saeco - still going and with amazing flavorful Brazilian coffee beans - Perfect!
